All airports in Italy will have the opportunity to reopen in early June after many were closed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, according to the country's transport minister.

”It will be possible to proceed with the opening of all airports from June 3, when interregional and international flights will once again be allowed,” says Paola De Micheli.

This weekend, the government clarified that it will open up to EU tourists from the same date and abolish the requirement for mandatory quarantine upon entry into the country.

Many airports have already opened to traffic, but on a limited scale.

The struggling Italian airline Alitalia believes that traffic in June could increase 36 percent compared to May.
