It will be Amapola Flyg AB that will provide the air traffic to seven locations in Norrland and Visby that the Swedish state decided to procure last week to ensure necessary travel opportunities for healthcare and other important societal functions.

”"After meeting the basic criteria, Amapola Flyg AB, which operates three of the Swedish Transport Administration's previously procured flight routes, submitted the most advantageous bid in terms of price," the authority writes.

The Swedish Transport Administration's decision on operator enables traffic to start on April 20. The agreement will be extended one month at a time if necessary, at the latest until September 6. However, if commercial traffic resumes, the procured traffic will cease.

The procurement took place against the backdrop of the ongoing spread of the coronavirus, which has resulted in a large loss of passengers for flights and led to a sharp reduction, and in some cases, cessation, of air traffic.
