America's largest airline, American Airlines, reports better-than-expected results for the fourth quarter.

Adjusted earnings per share were 95 cents, which was higher than the 92 cents expected, according to Thomson Reuters. Reported earnings were $0.54 per share.

Revenue was $10.6 billion, which was in line with expectations and higher than last year's $9.8 billion.

The key revenue per passenger seat metric was up 5.6 percent, compared to 2.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2016. The outcome was in line with the airline's previous increase in the figure in January, CNBC reports.

For 2018, American Airlines expects adjusted earnings of between $5.50 and $6.50 per share.
