
American Airlines reports revenue in line with expectations for the first quarter. Adjusted earnings per share showed a loss roughly as expected.
Revenue fell 52.9 percent to $4.01 billion (8.52). The outcome compares with the Factset analyst consensus of 4.04.
Adjusted earnings per share were -4.32 dollars (-2.65), compared to analyst consensus of -4.30.
For the second quarter, the company predicts a decline in capacity of 20-25 percent, compared to the second quarter of 2019. Revenue is forecast to fall by approximately 40 percent.
The company also forecasts a margin on profit before tax, excluding special items, of -27 to -30 percent.
