Another airline can now report a financial profit for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific made an operating profit of the equivalent of 4.8 billion Swedish kronor in 2022. This after achieving a third of the company's capacity in December compared to before the pandemic, the company now expects it to correspond to 70 percent by the end of 2023.

Cathay Pacific in particular was greatly affected by Hong Kong's strict Covid policy, which was in place much longer than in many other parts of Asia.

In a publicity stunt to attract tourists back to Hong Kong, the company recently gave away 50,000 flight tickets to Hong Kong from places like Singapore and Thailand.
