Sweden's largest airport, Stockholm Arlanda Airport, has been named Europe's most punctual airport by the European aviation industry body, Eurocontrol. According to Eurocontrol, Arlanda had the best punctuality for departing flights among the top 30 largest airports in Europe in 2024.
– It is very pleasing that Arlanda was able to deliver the best punctuality for departing flights in Europe in 2024. Punctuality is always a high priority and we are now continuing our targeted work to further strengthen it together with all our employees and partners who contribute to an efficient Arlanda. In recent years, Swedavia has made major investments in Arlanda, including a new modern security checkpoint and a new marketplace. In 2025, the remaining parts of the new marketplace will open and the work to develop the airport will continue, says Jonas Abrahamsson, Swedavia's President and CEO.
In 2024, Stockholm Arlanda Airport had a punctuality of 80 percent for departing flights. This is an increase of four percentage points compared to 2023. In second and third place respectively in Eurocontrol's annual summary came Oslo and then Copenhagen.
The punctuality of departing flights for all airports in the Eurocontrol network averaged just over 66 percent, which is one percent better than compared to 2023 and seven percent lower than pre-pandemic levels, 2019.
At Arlanda, air travel increased overall by four percent in 2024 compared to the previous year. International travel at Arlanda increased by seven percent while domestic travel decreased by ten percent in 2024 compared to 2023.
