Stockholm Arlanda had a punctuality of 82.1 percent during the summer, placing it highest among Europe's 40 busiest airports, according to statistics from Eurocontrol for the period 1 June–31 August.
Eurocontrol, the European air traffic control organization, has compared the punctuality of Europe's 40 busiest airports during the summer months.
Stockholm Arlanda ranked highest with a punctuality of 82.1 percent, followed by Oslo Gardermoen and Istanbul.
Swedavia lifts morning departures
Swedavia links the results to increased collaboration between the airport, airlines and ground handling companies.
According to the airport company, the work has been concentrated on the first departures of the morning. Delays early in the day can follow an aircraft through later flights and thus affect punctuality for the rest of the traffic day.
According to Swedavia, the same working method is also used at Gothenburg Landvetter and the company's other airports.
– This is proof that our strengthened punctuality work that we have done together with our partners is working, says Mats Johannesson, CEO of Swedavia.
