In July, a total of 3.1 million passengers traveled from the Danish major airport Kastrup.

Last month's travel was, however, trumped by the corresponding month last year. Then, just over 38,000 more passengers traveled from Kastrup, which was a record for the Danish airport. Kastrup writes in a press release. The airport management is nevertheless satisfied with last month's statistics.

”"We have been very busy in July, both with arriving travelers and returning vacationers," says Kastrup's CEO, Thomas Woldbye, who also points out that for 14 days of last month, more than 100,000 travelers a day passed through the terminals.

During the two summer months of June and July, just over six million travelers passed through the airport, and accumulated from the beginning of the year, this is just over 17.5 million passengers. The latter figure is a decrease of 0.3 percent compared to January-July last year.

One explanation for Kastrup's decline on an annual basis so far is attributed to the bankruptcies of the Icelandic airline Wow Air and Primera Air, which was, among other things, the largest supplier to the charter company Solresor.

The weather is also thought to have affected passenger numbers. Last year saw a record-breaking summer, and according to Thomas Woldbye, this affected the desire to book summer trips for this year.

”"Now, the weather is of course not the whole explanation. But a really sunny summer like 2018 means that slightly fewer people choose to fly south the following year. And if, conversely, it has been a really bad summer, more people are booking trips for next summer," says Thomas Woldbye.
