”Welcome to my hometown”, the portrait gallery that has welcomed travelers to Stockholm and Sweden for 20 years in the baggage halls at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, has a new face: Armand ”Mondo” Duplantis. On Tuesday, the pole vaulter and world record holder unveiled his painting together with Karl Eklund, Swedavia’s airport manager at Arlanda.
"I am incredibly happy to be part of the portrait gallery "Welcome to my hometown" at Arlanda. When I see all the other fantastic Swedes hanging there, it feels very honorable and I am proud to welcome all travelers to Stockholm," says Armand Duplantis.
Earlier this spring, Armand Duplantis was selected by a newly appointed jury, consisting of representatives from Swedavia, Stockholm Business Region and the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, as one of two participants to take a place in the portrait gallery "Welcome to my hometown" in the baggage hall in Terminal 5 at Arlanda. There he is in good company of Benjamin Ingrosso, whose portrait was unveiled this spring, as well as several other prominent profiles who have made significant contributions to the Stockholm and Uppsala region in areas such as innovation, culture, sports, business, music, art and design.

The gallery is a much-appreciated feature at the airport that gives returning Swedes the opportunity to feel proud of their country and their capital and foreign visitors a chance to discover and get to know Sweden better. Armand Duplantis is a great role model for both old and young and, with his drive and charisma, has not only conquered his sport but also many Swedish hearts at home on the TV couches," says Karl Eklund, Swedavia's airport manager at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
