Just over ten flights have been unable to land at Arlanda due to severe thunderstorms.

– We have a thunderstorm that is directly above the airport and we are in the hands of the weather, said Peter Wärring, press officer at Swedavia at around 2:30 p.m.

Several planes were forced to circle in the air while waiting for the go-ahead, but at 3 p.m. the weather began to lighten and the planes were able to land.

– We see that the storm is starting to subside, says Peter Wärring.

The storm also caused delays for over ten departures.
