Astrid Lindgren's World is threatened with bankruptcy

The theme park in Vimmerby in Småland is completely deserted. It has been like this all year, except for eleven days in June when they tried to start up but had to close again after being notified by the police because it was considered an event that could not have more than 50 participants.

The consequences so far have been around SEK 120 million in losses and around 20 employees who have been laid off. The company has so far received support through the Swedish National Debt Office's so-called corporate emergency, where loan guarantees have been issued to small and medium-sized companies.

– But the borrowed money will only last until 2021, then we need to get started. If we are unable to open, the threat of bankruptcy is imminent, says CEO Joacim Johansson.
