At least 25 dead in fire – tourists among victims

At least 25 people died on Saturday in a fire at a nightclub in the Indian tourist metropolis of Goa.

According to local media, the fire was caused by an exploding cylinder in the kitchen.

The Goa police state, according to Times of India, that 14 of the dead were employees of the club and that four have been confirmed as tourists.

An additional seven people remain to be identified.

The nightclub owner is accused of violating fire safety regulations.

According to the Swedish Foreign Ministry, there is currently no information about any injured or deceased Swedes connected to the incident.

”"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Consulate General in Mumbai are closely following developments and are in contact with local authorities," they write in an email to Aftonbladet.
