A domestic flight from Melbourne to Sydney in Australia had to turn around to land again in Melbourne on Friday morning, local media reports.

After just 20 minutes of travel, passengers were informed that due to technical problems with the plane, as a safety measure, they would have to land again, a passenger told 7News.

This is the third time in as many days that similar incidents have taken place in Australia. All planes have belonged to the airline Qantas.

On Wednesday, a plane en route from Auckland, New Zealand, sent a distress signal as it approached Sydney. With an hour of flight time remaining to Sydney, the pilot announced that one of the plane's engines was not working properly and had lost power.

A major rescue operation was prepared at Sydney Airport but the plane was able to land without any problems.

On Thursday morning, another Qantas flight, this time bound for Fiji, turned back to Sydney after technical problems.
