Industrial giant General Electric is selling its aircraft leasing business to Irish company Aercap. The deal is valued at $30 billion, or approximately SEK 255 billion.
The deal creates the world's largest aircraft owner with over 2,000 aircraft, which are then leased to airlines. The effect could be that airlines get better rental rates because the new larger leasing giant can put pressure on aircraft manufacturers Boeing and Airbus, writes the Wall Street Journal.
