On Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2, the first of Norwegian's direct flights departed to the two popular Spanish cities of Alicante and Malaga. Interest has been great and the launch has been eagerly awaited by both travelers and businesses in Nyköping Municipality and surrounding municipalities. The collaboration with Norwegian is an important step in the long-term plan to put the airport on the national and international airport map.
There is a great demand at both destinations that we are very happy to be able to meet. The fact that the restaurant has also opened in full force feels incredibly good, says Jesper Fredmark, CEO at Stockholm Skavsta Airport.
During Saturday's premiere in Alicante, County Governor Beatrice Ask spoke about the importance of Stockholm Skavsta Airport's development and the new owners Arlandastad Group, who together with Nyköping Municipality are working hard to bring the airport back to life. The airport's chairman, Kjell-Åke Westin, expressed hope for the future.
– We look forward to getting more flights to Skavsta. Norwegian has expressed its positive attitude towards the airport and we hope that there will be more of our collaboration, now we are keeping our fingers crossed that they want to continue flying here and establish more flights from Stockholm Skavsta Airport.
Norwegian's new routes:
Stockholm Skavsta Airport (NYO) – Alicante (ALC): Two departures per week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting April 1, 2023.
Stockholm Skavsta Airport (NYO) – Malaga (AGP): Two departures per week, on Wednesdays and Sundays starting April 2, 2023.
During the first season in 2023, the new routes will operate between the end of March and the end of October. More routes and departures may be launched later.
