Bankruptcies continue to rise and in some industries the situation is the worst in over a decade. According to business and credit information company UC, there are few bright spots.

”"The lightening "The growth that many hope for in the spring and summer is not yet visible among companies and unemployment will increase this spring," says UC CEO Gabriella Göransson in a press release.

The number of bankruptcies has increased by 64 percent so far this year. The construction industry is the hardest hit, but bankruptcies are also on the rise in the hotel and restaurant sectors.

In February, bankruptcies in the construction sector increased by 86 percent compared to the same month last year. In hotel and restaurant operations, the figure was 62 percent.

”"It is now in recent months that we have seen the really high increases," says Gabriella Göransson.

The development is worrying, according to UC. But the hope remains that the ”peak of the bankruptcy wave” will be reached by the summer.
