Elite Hotels of Sweden are proud to announce that our founder, Bicky Chakraborty, has been inducted into the Swedish Tennis Hall of Fame. This is a great honour and a recognition of Bicky's lifelong commitment and passion for Swedish tennis.
Bicky Chakraborty, born in 1943 and passed away in 2022, founded and ran Elite Hotels of Sweden, a hotel chain that not only set the standard for hospitality in Sweden but also played a significant role in supporting Swedish tennis. For many years, Elite Hotels has supported tennis at all levels, from individual players to clubs, competitions, and associations.
Elite Hotels has been a loyal partner to the ATP and WTA events in Båstad, as well as the international junior tournament Kungens Kanna & Drottningens Pris. Since 2017, Elite Hotels has been the main partner of the Swedish Tennis Association and the title sponsor of the nationwide youth tournament Elite Hotels Next Gen Cup. Bicky Chakraborty also cherished Swedish tennis history and was one of the founders of the Swedish Tennis Hall of Fame.
Since 2003, the Association of the Swedish Tennis Museum has, together with Elite Hotels of Sweden, inducted members into the Swedish Tennis Hall of Fame. Previously inducted include legendary players such as Björn Borg, Stefan Edberg, and Mats Wilander. In 2012, Magnus Norman, Thomas Enqvist, and Kent Karlsson were inducted. Now, Bicky Chakraborty has secured a place in this exclusive group of Swedish tennis personalities.
”It is a great honour for our family and the entirety of Elite Hotels to see Bicky recognised in this way. His passion for tennis and his commitment to the sport were a central part of his life and work. We are proud to continue his legacy and support Swedish tennis in the future,” says Caroline Chakraborty, owner, Elite Hotels of Sweden.
