German prestige brand BMW has received a license to offer taxi app services in Chengdu, China, and will launch the service before the end of the year.

BMW will be the first foreign car manufacturer to receive permission to start this type of service in China, several media outlets report. Earlier this year, the subsidiary BMW Mobility Service was established for the purpose. Daimler is also entering the field in collaboration with Geely.

The Chinese taxi service market is worth $23 billion and is currently dominated by Didi Chuxing.
