Aircraft manufacturer Boeing has signed a letter of intent with British Airways owner IAG regarding the acquisition of the accident-stricken 737 Max aircraft model.

The agreement concerns the acquisition of 200 aircraft of the 737-8 and 737-10 models with delivery in 2023 and 2027, Reuters writes.
The aircraft is of the model that was grounded this spring by a number of authorities after two serious accidents in a short period of time raised questions about the plane's safety.
”"We have full confidence in Boeing and expect the aircraft to be successfully returned to service in the coming months following regulatory approval," IAG CEO Willie Walsh wrote in a statement, according to Reuters.
Spanish-British IAG is the parent company of British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia, Vueling and Level.
