Aircraft manufacturer Boeing will avoid prosecution for the two fatal crashes with the 737 Max after a federal judge in Texas approved a settlement with the US Department of Justice.

The agreement means the company will pay $1.1 billion in fines and compensation to the victims' families, Bloomberg News reports.

Boeing shares rise around 1.1 percent on the US stock market.
