American aircraft manufacturer Boeing is urging airlines that use Boeing 777 aircraft equipped with Pratt & Whitney 4000-112 engines to leave the aircraft on the ground until further notice.

One engine on a United Airlines 777-200 caught fire over Denver on Saturday, scattering debris across a suburb before the plane could land safely. No one was injured in the incident.

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ordered additional inspections of the aircraft in question, and Boeing is making its recommendation until the FAA has come up with an appropriate protocol for inspections of the engines in question.

The current aircraft type is currently only used in the United States, Japan and South Korea.

Japan's Ministry of Transport announces that the aircraft are being stopped from use until further notice.
