American aircraft manufacturer Boeing reports a net profit of $3.1 billion for the fourth quarter of last year.

That's almost double the $1.6 billion profit in the same quarter a year earlier.

Sales rose to $25.4 billion, compared to $23.3 billion a year earlier.

The controversial tax reform that US President Donald Trump implemented in December reduced tax costs by just over a billion and raised earnings by $1.74 per share.

Excluding one-time items, Boeing made a profit during the quarter of $4.80 per share, which compares to $2.47 per share a year earlier.

For the full year, Boeing reports a delivery volume of 763 commercial aircraft and the order book includes orders for an additional 5,864 aircraft, with a book value of $488 billion.

In 2018, Boeing expects to deliver 810–815 aircraft.
