Boeing's troubled 737 Max is expected to receive a European airworthiness certificate soon. Patrick Ky, head of the EU's aviation safety agency, has told the BBC he is confident the plane is safe to fly.

The European Aviation Safety Agency's inspectors are reported by Ky to have left no stone unturned in their evaluation of the 737 Max.

The aircraft model recently received flight permits in the United States and was back in the air on December 9 after 20 months on the ground.
