The management of aerospace giant Boeing is withdrawing its wage offer and accusing the union of being intransigent. The month-long strike in the US involving up to 33,000 employees looks set to continue.
Negotiations resumed on Monday with the help of mediators but were interrupted in disagreement already on Tuesday.
”"The union has demanded things that are not negotiable, far beyond what can be accepted if we want to remain competitive," company management writes in an email to employees.
This means that further negotiations are hopeless, at least for now, according to the company. The union wants compensation for what they believe is a decade of small wage increases that have been eaten up by inflation.
