Boeing will halt production of the troubled 737 Max model in January, Dow Jones reported, citing sources.

Earlier on Monday, the Wall Street Journal reported on the risk of a production halt of the 737 Max following persistent uncertainty about the aircraft's ability to return to service.

Boeing's stock closed down 4.3 percent for the day and fell slightly further in after-hours trading.
