Aviation giant Boeing receives an aircraft order from American Airlines for 47 new Boeing 787 aircraft.

With a contract value of 12 billion dollars, equivalent to just over 101 billion kronor. This is reported by Reuters.

American Airlines CEO Robert Isom said in a statement that it was a difficult decision between the Boeing 787 and the Airbus A350 and A330neo. In the end, Boeing was the more attractive option, according to Isom.

Finwire previously reported, citing Reuters, that American was looking for between 25 and 30 aircraft, which corresponds to a contract value of between $7 billion and $8.5 billion for Boeing. It has now ordered 47.

This is the second time in a short period that Boeing's 787 has won over the A330neo, as Hawaiian Airlines recently announced that it has chosen to exchange six A330neos for the 787. Airbus' new sales chief Eric Schulz has stated that improving sales of the A330neo is a top priority for the aircraft manufacturer.
