Boeing narrowed its second-quarter loss while sales rose, the clearest sign yet of improvement for the aircraft manufacturer after a couple of tough quarters, CNBC reported on Tuesday.

Boeing reported a loss per share of $1.24 (adjusted) compared to an expected loss of $1.31.

Revenue came in at $22.8 billion, compared with an expected $21.7 billion, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence.

”Change takes time, but we are starting to see an improvement in our performance across the business,” CEO Kelly Ortberg wrote in a note to staff, according to CNBC.

”If we continue to address the important work ahead of us and focus on safety, quality and stability, we can navigate the changing global landscape and make 2025 our turning point,” he further stated.

In the second quarter, sales in Boeing's commercial airplane business increased by 81 percent compared to the previous year, to $10.87 billion, and the negative operating margin was more than halved to 5.1 percent.

Boeing shares were up about half a percent in US pre-market trading and have climbed just over 33 percent in 2025.
