City Airport has closed after a World War II bomb was found nearby, the airport tweeted.

The unexploded bomb was found in the River Thames next to the airport, according to British media. Late in the evening, police and military decided that a larger area around the bomb had to be cordoned off while work was done to defuse it.

The airport is the fifth largest in the London area. Nearby roads have also been closed following the bomb discovery.
