The conflict in the Middle East and reports of travelers stranded in different parts of the world have dominated the news flow recently. But despite the concerns, Swedes continue to book trips.

Recent events in the Middle East have raised questions about how travel is being affected. But according to booking statistics from travel agency Ticket, there are no signs that travel demand has slowed down. On the contrary, bookings increased by 14 percent last week compared to the same period last year.

– The desire to travel remains strong and many are booking their holidays as planned. We see no clear decline in the general demand for travel despite the uncertain global situation right now, says Tiyoneh Jah, PR and communications manager at travel agency Ticket.

At the same time, bookings for scheduled flights are increasing more than for charter flights. In a more uncertain global environment, however, the security of charter flights can be an important factor for many travelers. The fact that more people are currently choosing scheduled flights may be one of the explanations for the current bargain situation, where prices for many charter flights have been pressured ahead of the spring and early summer.
