New figures from Countryside Hotels show that the number of foreign hotel guests in Sweden has increased by 21 percent this summer compared to the previous summer. The member organization with 35 hotels around the country is primarily seeing increases in guests from Norway and Denmark.

”While the Swedish krona is at a low value, Swedish nature experiences seem to be in high demand among many foreign visitors and it has been a summer where many different languages have been spoken in the hotel lobbies,” says Anna Övergaard, Marketing Manager at Countryside Hotels.

The number of foreign visitors has thus increased by 21 percent this summer compared to the previous summer, with most guests coming from Norway and Denmark. Countryside Hotels is now analyzing the figures to see how best to work with marketing in other countries in the coming years.

”We work closely with agents and partners in different countries and when we now sum up the figures from the summer, it is clear that there is even greater potential in certain regions than we previously expected,” says Anna Övergaard.

Clear difference compared to 2019

Compared to the summer of 2019, which was the last completely ”normal” period before the pandemic, figures from Countryside Hotels show that foreign bookings have increased by 47 percent this summer.

”During the pandemic years, the summer vacation trend dominated, but with more and more foreign visitors, hotels now also have to focus on how to create good experiences for guests from other countries,” says Anna Övergaard.

According to the press release.
