The police in the Stockholm region have taken several measures to manage the demand for passport renewals.

Among other things, personnel have been recruited, internal training is being held and existing personnel are working overtime, the police write in a press release.

Between March 16 and April 8, 72,053 new passports will be released in the Stockholm region, the police say.

– It is important to meet citizens' demand for more passport times. The agency has a service obligation that we must live up to. We therefore need to join forces in the region to reduce passport queues. Most passport offices in Stockholm, especially the larger ones, have now released bookable times outside of regular opening hours, even on weekends, says Therese Tjeder Franzén, deputy chief of staff.
