The airline BRA has had its regular air traffic suspended since the outbreak of the pandemic. During the year, BRA has worked to make its operations more cost-effective and flexible, but above all, it has defined an ambitious vision when it comes to re-establishing air traffic and more sustainable travel. It is now clear that BRA will begin flying the majority of its domestic routes, mainly to and from Stockholm Bromma Airport, starting on May 12. The website is open for booking.

– This is a day we have been looking forward to for a long time and we know our customers have too. Many of us have been longing to meet loved ones, go on vacation and conduct the most important business meetings face to face and now the time has finally come, says Ulrika Matsgård, commercial manager at the airline BRA.

There are many indications that we are heading towards brighter times and that by the summer we will have come a long way in vaccination and reducing the spread of Corona. BRA estimates that demand for travel will increase gradually and that we have homecoming times to look forward to this summer when private travelers will start traveling. Business travel is estimated to start in the fall, albeit at a significantly lower level than before the pandemic.

The five largest routes will start operating in May, and then routes will be added in the summer and autumn.

Week 26 (June 28-July 4) five more lines will open 

• Bromma-Halmstad
• Bromma-Kalmar
• Bromma-Östersund
• Visby-Malmö
• Visby-Gothenburg

At the end of August, the timetable will be strengthened and additional lines will be launched.

– But that's just the beginning! We will increase traffic as demand returns and be flexible and quick to add routes and departures to meet customer needs, continues Ulrika Matsgård, commercial manager at BRA, and this could involve both more domestic routes and new international routes.

BRA has had a prominent position in sustainable travel for several years. BRA flies modern ATR 72-600s, which are the world's most climate-efficient regional aircraft, and offers its customers the option of MiljöClass, a ticket where fossil fuel is replaced with biofuel. All trips made with BRA are also climate-compensated.

Now the company is raising its goals even further with the aim of reducing emissions further and also faster than the previous target of being fossil-free by 2030. To achieve this, several things are required, but mainly increased access to biofuel at lower prices. The company also has the ambition of being the first commercial airline to fly electric aircraft in about five years.

“I won't be satisfied until domestic flights are completely fossil-free and even environmentalists are proud to travel with us,” says Per G Braathen, owner of the airline. Our focus is to make it easier for our customers to make sustainable choices for their travel, for example with fossil-free fuels.
