Palermo Airport is closed due to smoke spreading from a forest fire very close by.

According to the airport's own Twitter account, the airport may open at 11 am at the earliest on Tuesday.

Just over a week ago, Sicily's second international airport, the one in Catania, was closed. The cause then was also a fire.
