The Indian airline Jet Airways has fired two pilots after it emerged that they had an argument in the cockpit and briefly left the controls completely unattended.

The incident occurred on New Year's Day, during a flight between London and Mumbai.
One of the two pilots, a man, allegedly hit his female colleague during a heated argument. The female pilot then left the cockpit in tears and had to be persuaded by the rest of the crew to return to the controls. At one point, the male pilot also left the cockpit, leaving the controls unmanned, according to local media.

Immediately after the incident, both pilots were stripped of their flying privileges. The company describes the altercation as a ”misunderstanding” and states that the two now-fired pilots quickly made up.
