The recovery for the aviation industry is taking time when, among other things, vaccination is not progressing as hoped.
IAG, owner of the British airline British Airways, which just a month ago said it had sufficient liquidity to get through the crisis, has now raised new capital to ensure its survival.
By issuing a corporate bond, IAG, which also owns Spain's Vueling and Ireland's Aer Lingus, has raised 1.2 billion euros, equivalent to just over 12 billion kronor. This was a slightly better outcome than the company had expected, as many investors showed interest in lending money to the company.
IAG is bleeding around 185 million euros, just over 1.8 billion kronor, every week.
