British rail workers on new strike

Remove

Tens of thousands of railway workers in Britain are striking on Thursday due to a conflict with employers over wages and conditions.

A series of strikes in various industries have taken place over the summer, in a situation where high inflation has dug a hole in many people's wallets. The strike wave is the strongest since the industrial disputes of the 1980s under then Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

On Friday, London's public transport workers are also planning to go on strike. Dock workers at Felixstowe on the east coast of England have also called for a strike starting Sunday.
