The biggest British rail strike since the late 1980s could break out on Tuesday. Negotiations for a new contract have collapsed and the union is now preparing to take more than 50,000 workers on strike, which risks paralyzing British rail services, including the London Underground.
In the background looms the high inflation, the highest in 40 years. The union simply wants wage compensation.
The strike has been announced for Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday next week.
Train industry representatives expect millions of passengers to be affected.
