The prestigious business magazine Forbes has named Virgin Gorda, an island in the British Virgin Islands (BVI), as number eight on its list of the world's best travel destinations for 2023! Forbes, known for its rankings of celebrities, billionaires and more, also lists travel destinations. Experienced and professional travel advisors compile the travel top list based on anonymous visits and the justification for Virgin Gorda taking eighth place out of 23 travel destinations in 2023 is: "Virgin Gorda is one of the Caribbean's best-kept secrets with clear, calm waters and first-class snorkeling." BVI Tourism Director Clive McCoy says: "We are genuinely proud of the award and to be the only Caribbean destination among the world's best travel destinations." The BVI is located east of Puerto Rico and consists of 60 islands, most of which are uninhabited.
Tortola is the main island, but Necker Island has become equally famous as it is owned by Sir Richard Branson and has been visited by super celebrities such as Obama, Princess Di, Kate Winslet, Kate Moss and Swedish Victoria Silverstedt. The archipelago's third largest island, Virgin Gorda, is the jewel in the BVI's crown. The island is a dream destination for couples, families, snorkelers and sun worshippers.
