The captain who collided with a tourist boat in central Budapest in May – in an accident in which 27 people drowned – is being prosecuted.

If convicted, he faces up to eleven years in prison.

It was on May 29 that a riverboat carrying South Korean tourists collided with a larger ship on the Danube, sinking within seconds.

A total of seven people survived. Several victims were swept away in the river and one South Korean person has not been found.
