During the Christmas and New Year period, SkiStar reached an occupancy rate of 99 percent. The highest occupancy rates were in the destinations Sälen and Hemsedal with full occupancy of 100 percent, closely followed by Åre and Trysil at 99 percent and Vemdalen at 98 percent. The number of ski days increased by 6 percent compared to the previous year, which is a historic record for the period.
– We are both happy and positively surprised that so many people chose to visit our destinations during the Christmas and New Year holidays. It shows that interest in vacationing in Sweden remains strong and that an active winter vacation attracts many, says Stefan Sjöstrand, CEO of SkiStar.
During the period, all of SkiStar's destinations have been well-visited by both Swedish and international guests. From December 22 to January 5, a record number of 786,393** ski days* were registered according to SkiStar's entry system, which corresponds to an increase of 6 percent compared to the previous year. Interest from international guests has increased particularly from Denmark, the Netherlands and England.
– Overall, this shows a strong demand for memorable and active mountain experiences from both the Swedish and international markets and we look forward to the coming winter weeks. We are also very happy about the snow that has fallen in recent days, which has made it possible for us to open more alpine slopes and cross-country trails for our visitors and thus ensure a continued wonderful ski season, concludes Stefan Sjöstrand, CEO of SkiStar.
