On Tuesday it became clear that the construction company Peab is divesting Ängelholm Airport. Seven municipalities in northwestern Skåne will take over operations, the company writes in a press release.

PEAB announced at the end of May that the company would cease operations at Ängelholm Helsingborg Airport until further notice. The reason was that the airport had been experiencing declining passenger numbers for several years, but that the situation had become acute during the corona crisis.

Last week it became clear that seven municipalities in northwestern Skåne had voted in favor of taking over the airport, and on Tuesday the final agreement was signed. Peab will continue to only own the land and the airport property, but will relinquish ownership of Ängelholm Airport on September 1. 

During the first quarter, Peab's results were burdened by a current deficit of SEK 10 million related to the airport. In connection with the decision to close the airport this spring, the operations will be burdened with an additional SEK 40 million, of which SEK 20 million is a goodwill impairment charge. The divestment now implemented will not have any further effects on results.

Peab has operated the airport in Ängelholm for ten years. The municipalities that will now take over are Bjuv, Båstad, Helsingborg, Höganäs, Klippan, Perstorp and Ängelholm.
