Several major players in the aviation and telecom industries have joined forces to develop 5G technology on board aircraft.

The aim is for mobile phone operators to be able to offer travelers more powerful internet through satellite technology during air travel.

The partners include French aircraft manufacturer Airbus, US airline Delta Airline and wireless carrier Sprint, which recently announced it will launch its 5G network next year.

So far, no financial information regarding the collaboration has been communicated.
