Technical problems halt several of SAS's US flights. After a weekend of canceled departures between Stockholm and New York, the company is also canceling a Chicago flight on Sunday. 

According to data from Flightradar24, two of the airline's Airbus aircraft are on the ground. 

”"A plane was hit by a tractor ten days ago in Chicago," says SAS press manager Knut Morten Johansen, referring to one of two aircraft that could not be used in recent days. 

”That plane is undergoing a repair that is quite extensive and it will take a few more days before it is finished.” 

According to information on the airline's website Flightradar24 has also found a second plane stationary, which SAS explains as vibrations in an engine. That plane, also an Airbus A330, is expected to be put into service soon. 

Currently, SAS's fleet includes seven Airbus A330 aircraft. Knut Morten Johansen points out that aircraft can be replaced and that it is difficult to say exactly which routes are affected by a breakdown. However, the company has been forced to cancel a number of transatlantic flights over the weekend, something that continued on Sunday when the Arlanda-Chicago route was canceled. 

Flights to Barcelona, London, Edinburgh and Palma de Mallorca are also cancelled on Sunday. In addition, Sunday's flights between Copenhagen and Boston and San Francisco will be delayed by at least an hour and a half. 

On Friday and Saturday, SAS also canceled its routes between Stockholm and New York, while the New York flight from Copenhagen departed with a delay on Saturday after being canceled completely on Friday.

Knut Morten Johansen further points out that bad weather has also caused disruptions recently, especially in the Nordic region.
