Trains can start running through Hässleholm at the earliest on Saturday after the violent fire.

Many train passengers have been affected by cancelled trains and delays.

Work is underway in full swing in Hässleholm to repair everything that was destroyed in Wednesday's fire. The severe fire in an empty warehouse caused extensive damage to overhead lines, signaling systems and tracks on the adjacent railway.

”"It's a huge effort. We're working in three shifts to get everything in place as quickly as possible. There are nearly 30 people in each shift," says Sara Lindström, press communicator at the Swedish Transport Administration.

Train traffic may resume on Saturday at the earliest, according to the Swedish Transport Administration's forecast.

The fire had very major consequences for many train passengers, who were affected by cancelled trains and delays.

Skånetrafiken has suspended traffic on several routes and deployed replacement buses.

”"We have been able to get buses in principle as we wanted. There may be a departure where there are many passengers arriving a little unexpectedly," says Magnus Andersson at Skånetrafiken.

He advises everyone who is going to travel to be out well in advance and be prepared for the travel time to be longer.

SJ also warns of long travel times. Trains from Stockholm to Malmö stop in Alvesta where they are reversed. Those who want to travel south of Alvesta are primarily advised to travel via Gothenburg.

”"It will take quite a bit longer to travel throughout the week," says Dan Olofsson at SJ's press service.

The night trains between Malmö and Stockholm are being rerouted via Gothenburg and the number of seats has been increased on those departures. The number of seats is also being increased on the trains between Malmö and Gothenburg.

The police are classifying the fire in Hässleholm as aggravated arson.
