Norwegian airline Norwegian continues to be heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. In August, the number of passengers decreased by 91 percent compared to the same month last year.
TA total of just over 313,000 people traveled with Norwegian in August, new monthly figures from the company show. During the corresponding period last year, that number was just over 3.5 million.
Total capacity (ASK) decreased by 94 percent from last year while passenger traffic (RPK) decreased by 96 percent.
”"Demand for tickets is still rapidly affected by government changes to travel restrictions. We are continuously adapting the route network to meet the changes, but there is no doubt that the corona situation and constantly new travel recommendations make planning challenging," says Norwegian's CEO Jacob Schram.
In July, Norwegian resumed 76 routes and put an additional 15 aircraft into service. During the summer, the number of departures and routes has been adjusted continuously due to changing demand caused by constantly changing travel restrictions and travel recommendations from authorities.
