The autumn holidays offered some of the most travel-intensive days of the year, according to Swedavia's October figures.

Air travel continues to recover after the pandemic.

Swedavia's ten airports had a total of 2.7 million passengers in October. This is slightly fewer than September's slightly more than 2.8 million, but in line with what it has been like in recent months.

”"It is obvious that despite an uncertain economic and external situation, we continue to prioritize travel and personal meetings - both privately and at work. In the longer term, the clouds of uncertainty may of course affect the demand for travel, but these are effects that we have not noticed so far," says Jonas Abrahamsson, Swedavia's President and CEO, in a press release.

Nearly 2 million of the travelers traveled abroad. Compared to October last year, the number of travelers has increased by 62 percent. Travel is at 77 percent of the level before the pandemic, in 2019.

Arlanda had 1.8 million of the month's travelers and the airport was close to its annual high for several days during the autumn holidays.

The spring kitchen chaos at Arlanda seems to be a thing of the past. For almost 90 percent of the airport's passengers, the wait time at the security check was a maximum of 10 minutes.
