There is a major staff shortage at the ski resorts in the Sälenfjällen mountains after major outbreaks of coronavirus infection among employees. Several hundred people are in quarantine.
– We work hard to make the skiing happen, says Tomas Berg, destination manager for Skistar in Sälen.
Skiers have been forced to close several shops, receptions, cafes and restaurants. In addition, many ski school lessons at several facilities in the Sälenfjällen mountains have been cancelled. This is all due to a large corona outbreak among staff after the Christmas and New Year holidays and the fact that many employees who share accommodation with the infected have been quarantined.
– Those affected by cancelled lessons will of course receive their money back and we hope that they still have a good experience in our ski areas, says Tomas Berg.
The facilities in Stöten and Kläppen also have a staff shortage, but most of them have been able to stay open.
– We in the marketing department go in and help in the lifts to cover up, says Magnus Noppa, marketing manager at Kläppen.
