Courtyard by Marriott Stockholm is now taking another step towards gender equality by installing several Red Lockers in the hotel, providing easy and free access to hygiene products for both guests and staff. Through this initiative, we hope to be an active contribution to the fight against period poverty – a global issue where lack of access to necessary products can lead to social and economic exclusion.

At Courtyard by Marriott Stockholm, we have long been committed to gender equality and sustainability initiatives, and the installation of Red Lockers is a natural next step in our work. ”We are proud to contribute to a more inclusive and equal environment, both for our guests and our employees,” says Lisa Johnsson Kärrbrink, CEO of Courtyard by Marriott Stockholm. ”By offering free hygiene products available to everyone at the hotel, we are taking an important step towards reducing stigma and ensuring that everyone has access to necessary hygiene products.”

Period poverty is a growing problem in Sweden as well, with many affected people experiencing difficulties accessing hygiene products. According to reports, the lack of these products can lead to social and economic exclusion, which affects individuals’ quality of life and well-being. Research also shows that a significant proportion of those who menstruate feel stigma and anxiety about managing their periods in the workplace, which can affect their working lives and self-esteem. By raising awareness of these issues and promoting access to hygiene products, we can work together towards a more inclusive and equitable environment for all.

According to the press release.
