Seven out of a total of ten foreign tourists arrested for lewd dancing in Cambodia have been released on bail, according to the BBC.
However, those released cannot leave the country as their passports have been confiscated, a court spokesperson stated.
The group was recently arrested after a raid on a residence in Siem Reap, near the famous temple complex of Angkor Wat, and is accused of ”singing and dancing pornographically” at a party where attendees also allegedly simulated sexual positions. The three who are still being held are from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Norway. The tourists face prison sentences of up to a year if convicted.
Cambodia's nightlife has grown rapidly in recent years as the country has become popular with backpackers. The boom has sometimes led to culture clashes between tourists and Cambodia's conservatively Buddhist society.
