The pilot unions in Norway are warning SAS to take all members on strike starting Wednesday, Norwegian media reports.

If the parties do not reach an agreement, nearly 900 pilots from Sweden, Denmark and Norway could stop working on June 29.

In total, there are 402 Norwegian pilots who could go on strike at midnight on Wednesday, according to Aftenposten/E24.

”"We have notified all our pilots to bring maximum pressure into the mediation that is currently underway. The hope is to avoid a strike," says Roger Klokset, leader of the Norwegian Air Force union. SAS SAS -7,64% -flygeres forening (NSF) to the news site.

Pilot unions in Sweden and Denmark have also given SAS notice of a strike on Wednesday. The Swedish Pilots' Association submitted its strike notice to the Swedish Mediation Institute about two weeks ago.

Unlike in Sweden and Denmark, Norwegian unions must specify lists of those covered by the notice four days before the industrial action begins.

In total, nearly 900 pilots in Scandinavia could go on strike on Wednesday, according to Aftenposten/E24.

If the strike becomes a reality, it could affect up to 250 departures and 45,000 travelers per day.

”"The mediation is ongoing. We have nothing new to say about it. But we certainly hope that customers will not be affected by this and that the pilot associations will not come into conflict," Karin Nyman, communications director at SAS, told TT on Wednesday.

SAS has been in financial trouble since the pandemic, and the company recently presented interim figures that showed continued heavy financial losses.

The airline operates in Sweden, Norway and Denmark, and in all three countries negotiations on new collective agreements have stalled.
